Delightful. Lovable. Cozy. Upscale. Delicious. Friendly. Vegetarian and Vegan friendly. That, and much more. Roots Cafe is what a wonderful local spot for brunch should be. Nestled in an old row house and with its footprint taking advantage of every square inch of space, Roots Cafe is everything you would want in a brunch eatery with urban ambiance. Although the tables were close to each other, we could still have the privacy that we wanted as a family. That being said, a crowd of loud people would likely be given stern eyes as the sound carries throughout.... We came over here quite early so we can't attest as to whether or not they take reservations. We were one of the first customers and with 6 people, they sat us in one of the best seating locations by the window. We could see everything inside and out. The waitstaff was cheerful and quite knowledgeable and efficient. We started our brunch by copious amounts of Mimosas and what I thought was one of the best morning appetizers I've ever had, their Cinnamon Sugar French Toast Bites. You can't have just one.... Or two.... Then the main courses.... I had the Mushroom Omelet with delicious fresh mushrooms from nearby farms, a good dose of Birchrun Farms Fat Cat Cheese, a premium - and local - semisoft cheese that would make any fromager sing with joy. My spouse had the Roots Burger, a delightful concoction of a Smash Burger with the trimmings, Dijon, Garlic Aioli on a Brioche Bun, accompanied by delicious Sweet Potato Fries. The coffee kept on coming and we were happy.... A definite go-to when in the Westchester area... Awesome place!

As a 23 year old male I find a neutral approach when trying new restaurants. I'm greeted kindly, and treated well by the staff every time I sit to eat by myself. This place is truly a hidden gem and for many reasons, the quality/portion of the meal is perfect leaving me walking out without a stomach ache. The creativity behind the meals is truly a work of art and I can tell the creator cares about his/her work. Seems like they are farm to table, and if I can notice it- you will to. The price per person is more than generous, I'm a young college student who you can tell doesn't have a wallet to go out every week. However, I do end up here almost once a week. The owner of Roots took me by surprise by taking time out of his day to see me in person and thank me for loving his/her restaurant. I have never left a review in my life, and I know this was long. But Root's cafe blew me away, and I hope everyone can experience a meal from this beautiful cafe.

What a charming spot in West Chester! Great, unobtrussive service, delicious mocktails (lavender lemonade and blueberry spritz) and scrumptious sandwiches (smash burger and Buffalo chicken)!! We will be back!

Overpriced, like all boutique cafes, but good food. Quite a cute interior, but it's small and crowded and got pretty loud. No complaints about the service! Yes complaints about only offering QR code menus, the existence of which I am deeply opposed to.

Super delicious breakfast! We were looking for a quiet and comfortable place for brunch and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the breakfast. I got the croissant sandwich and it came out super quickly with friendly staff willing to accommodate the menu. The arugula sandwich is a must try! Thank you guys for the yummy meal.

Overall, good breakfast/brunch spot in West Chester. We arrived right when they opened as they don't take reservations, and there was already a line. We were told it would be around 40-45 minutes to get a table because some really big groups had just gotten seated. After waiting, we were quickly seated. The food was good. For an appetizer, we got the pretzel croissant and those were probably the highlight for me! The entrees were good but nothing mind blowing. I got the breakfast sandwich and my husband got the pork belly Benedict. Would come back but definitely have to get there right when they open on a Sunday.

Roots cafe may be the best brunch spot in West Chester. The decor and ambiance is so cozy and rustic with all the wood furniture and all the decorations. The food is also top notch. today i had their country fried chicken and it was so good. the chicken was fried well and the sausage gravy is so flavorful and coats the chicken so well. The potatoes are also the best i've ever had being perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and with the just right amount of salt. The only downside was that biscuit was cold in the middle but still tasted very good with the gravy and chicken. My girlfriend got the french toast bites and it may be the best french toast i've ever had. Each bite was crispy and soft with the right amount of sweetness, reminding almost of a perfect cinnamon toast crunch. Our server was also amazing and came by often to check up on us. Love this place.
